Decugnano dei Barbi

decugnano dei barbi

In 1973 Claudio Barbi found Decugnano, the first wines were produced in 1978. Decugnano dei Barbi produced the first classic Umbrian method (1978 vintage) and the first Italian noble mold (1981 vintage). Decugnano dei Barbi soils are ocean floors from the Pliocene era. The vineyards have their roots in the sandy and clay soil, among fossils of shells and oysters, giving that mineral and marine characteristic of the Decugnano dei Barbi wines.

Villa Barbi Bianco
Orvieto Classico DOC

Grape Variety: 50% Grechetto 20% Vermentino 20% Sauv. Blanc 10% Procanico

Tasting Notes: The Villa Barbi Bianco expresses the best flavors of Orvieto tradition. The fruit is sourced from the estate vineyards grown in soils rich with fossilized shells and oysters. Careful fruit selection and concise blending create a fresh wine with bright and balanced flavors.

Mare Antico
Orvieto Classico DOC

Grape Variety: 55% Grechetto 20% Vermentino 20% Chardonnay 5% Procanico

Tasting Notes: The Mare Antico is a blend of the best fruit from our estate vineyards. The grapes are sourced from 25-year-old vines grown in soils particularly rich with fossilized shells and oysters. The grapes are fermented separately and carefully blended. Mare Antico is a wine of great elegance, well balanced, and very mineral: the best expression of Decugnano’s terroir.

Maris
Umbria Bianco IGT

Grape Variety: 100% Chardonnay

Tasting Notes: Maris comes from Chardonnay grapes grown on a soil particularly rich of fossils and oysters shells. The harmonic balance between the grapes and the soil, originated from Pliocene seas, gives us a sophisticated wine, fine on the palate, refreshing, and mineral.
